Bhubaneswar: Baidanathpur police arrested five persons on charges of drugging and raping a Plus II girl student a few days ago in Berhampur, informed Berhampur Superintendent of Police (SP) Sarthak Sarangi.
Going by the SP’s statement, none of the accused youth is the victim’s friend. They are all adults. The girl was standing on the roadside when the accused called her to a private mess and drugged her before gang-raping her.
The matter came to the fore after the rape victim filed a complaint in this regard. Based on the complaint, Baidyanathpur Police in Berhampur had registered a case in this regard and detained eight persons.
According to the complaint, the rape survivor had gone to a friend’s house in Berhampur where she was allegedly drugged and gang-raped by eight persons. Her friends reportedly made her drink cold drinks laced with drugs before raping her.
