Bolangir: Five people were killed and two others sustained critical injuries when the car they were travelling by rammed into the rear of a stationary truck near Madhiapali Square on Sambalpur-Bolangir National Highway No. 26 in Odisha’s Bolangir district at around 11.00 pm on Tuesday. The victims were returning to Bolangir from a wedding party in Duduka villager in Agalpur in the district.
The deceased have been identified as Swataj Naik (26), Ipsita Sai (24), Srinika Simantini Sai (5), Diphiranjan Sai (34), and Rhea (4), while the critically injured include Aarti Naik and Rashmita Sai.
According to reports, the accident took place when the seven were returning home in Bolangir after attending a marriage party in Duduka village in Agalpur block.
Locals and Fire Services personnel rescued the victims and rushed them to a nearby hospital where the doctors declared five persons ‘brought dead’. The condition of the injured is stated to be critical.
Upon being informed, police arrived at the accident site and began an investigation into the incident.
