Nuapada: In a shocking incident, five minor boys sustained injuries after a gas balloon burst at Pakhapadar under Dharambandha police in Nuapada district, bordering Chhattisgarh, on Friday.

The boys, aged 10-11 years, were playing when they spotted a red gas balloon and attempted to catch it. As they tried to pull it out, the balloon burst, releasing a poisonous gas that injured them in various parts of their bodies. The blast was so intense that the pants and shirts they were wearing also burst.

According to reports, the gas balloons, numbering around 10-15, originated from the Chhattisgarh border. The Dharambandha police have seized the burst balloon and are investigating the incident. The injured boys have been admitted to the Nuapada District Headquarters Hospital for treatment.

Police are investigating to determine the cause of the incident.
