Berhampur: Five persons were seriously injured when a bus of the Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) in which they were travelling met with an accident near Banatumba village under Belaguntha police limits in Ganjam district on Friday.
The seriously injured have been admitted to the Sub Divisional Hospital at Bhanjanagar.
According to reports, the OSRTC bus which was travelling from Bhubaneswar to Baliguda in Kandhamal district met with the accident near Banatumba village after crossing Belaguntha at about 9.30 PM.
The driver upon losing control of the wheel rammed into a roadside tree. Under the impact of the collision, five persons were seriously injured. There were around 40 passengers on the bus.
On being informed Belaguntha police rushed to the accident site and rescued the passengers from the ill-fated bus. The seriously injured persons were rushed to the Sub Divisional Hospital at Bhanjanagar.
Police have registered a case in this connection and have launched an investigation into the incident.
