Sundargarh: In a deeply shocking and inhuman incident that has sent ripples of anger and grief through the community, a five-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a youth in the Hemgiri police station area of Sundargarh district.

According to police sources, the incident took place when the minor girl was alone. A young man, identified as a resident of the same village, allegedly took her to a nearby forest area and committed the crime. After the harrowing ordeal, the child, in continuous pain and distress, managed to return home and inform her parents.

The victim’s family immediately lodged a formal complaint at the Hemgiri police station. Acting swiftly on the complaint, the police have registered a case under relevant sections of the law, including the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The accused youth has been detained by the police and is currently being interrogated.

Meanwhile, the young survivor was rushed to the Hemgiri hospital for medical examination and treatment. Her condition is being closely monitored by the medical staff.

A detailed investigation into the matter is currently underway. The police have assured that the strictest possible action will be taken against the perpetrator to ensure justice for the victim.
