Bhubaneswar: A missing 5-year-old girl was found dead in a pool of blood under a tree at Kankarei village under Industrial Police Station (Nisha) in Angul district on Sunday.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the minor girl was allegedly raped and killed. In connection with the incident, police have detained one person.
According to reports, the girl had gone missing on Thursday and her family members had filed a police complaint on Friday. After the complaint was lodged, police initiated an investigation. Locals discovered the girl’s dead body in a pool of blood on Sunday and informed the police.
Upon receiving the information, police reached the spot and began investigating the matter.
The police have sent the girl’s body to Angul District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for medical examination. A team of pediatricians from Cuttack will also investigate this sensitive incident, police said.
