Bhubaneswar: A whopping 56.93 per cent of teaching posts and 58.12 per cent of non-teaching posts are lying vacant in 12 public universities of Odisha, informed Higher Education Minister Rohit Pujari.
Replying to a starred question by BJP lawmaker and Opposition Chief Whip Mohan Majhi in the Odisha Assembly, Minister Pujari stated that 181 out of 243 teaching posts and 1534 out of 2639 non-teaching posts in 12 public universities of the state are lying vacant.
Pujari informed that no professor, associate professor and assistant professor posts have been sanctioned for Khallikote University, Vikramdeb University and Dharanidhar University out of the 15 public universities in the state.
He said that out of the sanctioned posts of 06 professors, 12 associate professors and 32 assistant professors at Madhusudan Law University, not a single post has been filled and teaching is being imparted by only 07 non-teaching staff (posts).
He further informed that till date not a single teaching and non-teaching post has been created for Khallikote Unitary University, Vikramdeb University and Dharanidhar University inaugurated by the government.
