Bhubaneswar: It was a memorable day for students and teachers of SLS Residential School founded by President Draupadi Murmu in Pahadpur in Mayurbhanj district. This residential school in a remote hamlet is the first in Odisha to experience the transformative experience of high seed 5G technology, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched 5G services on Saturday.
More than 100 students and teachers participated in the 5G launch programme virtually from Mayurbhanj today. Officials from the telecom department and Reliance Jio, school Principal Janmejay Giri and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
According to reports, among other operators, Jio has acquired maximum spectrum in all 22 telecom circles of the country, including Odisha, and as the only telecom operator that has bought spectrum in the 700 MHz band, which is considered the best for 5G.
It was a moment of joy for students of SLS Residential School as they were connected with an event that was being addressed by the PM and held significance.
In memory of her husband Shyam Charan Murmu, President Murmu converted her in-laws’ ancestral house into this educational institution and remains very close to the heart of the First Citizen of the country.
