Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s “Mo School Abhiyan” has been awarded the prestigious Skoch Award under the Education category at the Constitution Club in Delhi on Saturday for outstanding work in the field of education. The award was given in recognition of the Mo School Abhiyan’s “Alumni Engagement Program” and “5T High School Transformation Program.”
The 5T High School Transformation Program has provided access to facilities of leading national-level educational institutions in Odisha government and government-aided high schools. The infrastructure of high schools has been strengthened. Priority is given to providing advanced and quality education. The State Government is continuing the High School Transformation Program to provide the best education system and educational environment. In this series, a total of 8677 high schools in the state have been transformed in a phased manner under the 5T high school transformation program. The transformed school provides all the facilities for the students to have a successful future. Therefore, the children of today will build a new Odisha, an empowered Odisha in the days to come.
Education is what takes the collective thinking of our society to a higher level. Today’s students can learn new technologies through 5T high school transformation. School students are also performing well in the field of sports. The prestige of government and government-aided schools has increased. Through this transformation, children are encouraged to dream big.
Similarly, on the 14th of November 2017, Children’s Day, under the direction of the Chief Minister of Odisha, an innovative initiative was launched. A plan was designed for the all-round development of government and government-aided schools in the state by linking alumni with the schools. ‘Mo School Abhiyan’ was launched. The main objective of this campaign was to maintain the partnership between the public and the government of the state and to develop public educational institutions. ‘Mo School Abhiyan’ is an ideal platform to directly involve alumni in the school development process. This campaign, which started as a small program, has now completed 6 years and has stepped into the 7th year. But in a short time, ‘Mo School Abhiyan’ has turned from a campaign into a movement.
Infrastructural development of government and government-aided schools in the state along with academic development of students, encouraging children to show talent in fields like sports, arts, culture, science and technology. Mo School Abhiyan has connected with more than 30 lakh alumni out of which more than 7 lakh alumni have provided financial support. Similarly, more than 13 lakh alumni have been connected with their school through ‘Mo School’ through various channels and have participated in the development process of the school. These alumni have directly and indirectly reached out to the new generation of students and participated in their intellectual development. Meanwhile, ‘Mo School’ has succeeded in reaching more than 53 lakh students studying in government and government-aided schools of the state. This award has brought another milestone of success to Mo School Abhiyan.
Anupam Saha, OSEPA State Project Director and Member Secretary of Mo School, said, “Our efforts to bring about a change in the educational landscape, have brought us this success today.” He has expressed his opinion that he is very honoured to receive this award. The Chief Executive Officer of Mo School Abhiyan Amarjit Jena was also present in the award ceremony. The Skoch Award is a popular award for recognizing excellence in governance, education and other categories. It recognizes the impactful work of individuals and organizations across the country
