Bhubaneswar: In a novel move, BK Sharma, Director General of Police (DGP), Odisha, on Wednesday vowed remuneration for police stations and police officers based on their performance under the 5T charter.
DGP Sharma asked the police stations to wrap up the cases within a year with fast track investigation and streamlined evidence filing. On being able to accomplish this, he promised that a huge reward will be given to respective police stations as a sign of appreciation and the Investigating Officer will be sent on a sponsored foreign trip.
On the occasion of 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had launched the ambitious ‘Mo Sarkar’ initiative under the 5T charter. It was dedicated to serving people who are visiting police stations in Odisha.
‘Mo Sarkar’ programme is dedicated for petitioners, aggrieved people, complainants, or the general public who seek police service. In case anyone is dissatisfied with the response, behaviour and action of the police, he or she can call the Mo Sarkar helpline number and report the irregularity to top-notch officials, Ministers, or even the Chief Minister himself.
Previously too, CM had asked the officials to treat citizens with dignity, whenever they visit police stations, deal with their complaints in a professional, ethical and humane manner. He had said that those who are doing good work will get appreciation and those who are not will face action.
