Bhubaneswar: Senior Congress MLA, Taraprasad Bahinipati was in all praises for Odisha Government’s 5T initiative which he said, has led to a metamorphosis of the healthcare delivery system in Koraput district.
During the ongoing winter session of Odisha Legislative Assembly here today, Bahinipati thanked Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for launching 5 T. He also appreciated the efforts of 5T secretary for leading the initiative from the front.
“Koraput district headquarters hospital got a CDMO after so many years. Pandian’s visit has put things in order in the healthcare system in Koraput district. The district headquarters hospital of Koraput now has the facilities of ambulance service along with other infrastructures,” Bahinipati said.
He, however, expressed concern that the healthcare system in remotest parts of Koraput needs immediate attention due to a shortage of doctors. “I request the State Government to look into the matter at the earliest.”
“If someone has done something for the development of my district (Koraput) I am going to praise their efforts. Following the visit of Pandian, the Chief Minister has announced new hearse vans, assistance for hospital infrastructure and staff quarters. I heartily welcome and congratulate the CM for these steps,” he added.
Health and Family Welfare Department Minister, Nabakishore Das said that Koraput district has 69 hospitals, 48 primary health centers and 16 community health centers. He said 118 doctors are serving in different hospitals in the district. The number of vacant post of doctors is 190
The Minister added Odisha Public Service Commission has been asked to conduct the process of appointment of 2,000 doctors in the state. Das hoped that after the appointment of the doctors, the State will have adequate doctors across all districts.
