Berhampur: Secretary Transformation and Initiatives (5T) VK Pandian today paid a visit to the Taratarini Temple here to monitor and survey the development work of the temple.
The senior IAS officer was accompanied by District Collector Vijay Amrut Kulange and the visit mostly entailed discussed about the infrastructural facilities and public utilities available here. Upliftment of the Rushikulyas River and its surrounding is also on the cards, said sources.
Giving the dignitaries a tour of the temple premises, temple servitor Bapuji Ranna explained all the issues to the Secretary. It is expected that the famous Taratarini Temple may get a facelift and transformation in the coming days. District PD DRDA Siddharth Shankar Swain was also present during the discussion.
The 5T Secretary is later scheduled to visit all high schools and municipalities of the Hinjili block of Ganjam district. The special focus is expected to be on high school education, drinking water, roads, health, electricity, and irrigation.
During one of his visits to a school, he was amazed at the students’ response when he asked how many of them wanted to pursue Science as their undergraduate stream. As done previously, the 5T Secretary had his lunch with the school children amidst animated conversation with them.
One of the most revered Shakti Peethas and Tantra Peethas of India, Taratarini temple was built by Kalinga emperors in the 17th century. Lakhs of devotees throng to the temple and the development of the temple and its surrounding will act as a huge boom to tourism of Ganjam district.
