Bhubaneswar: Under instructions of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, 5T Secretary VK Pandian on the first day of his three-day visit to Kalahandi and Nuapada districts today visited Utkela, Madanpur, and Bhawanipatana.
During the visit to these places, Pandian took stock of various developmental works and discussed with students, women, sportspersons and local inhabitants.
First Pandian took stock of the progress made in the construction of the Utkela Air Strip. He advised the officials concerned to complete the expansion of the air strip’s runway by December 23 for the development of air connectivity to Kalahandi.
Later, the 5T Secretary visited the famous Maheswar Dhabaleswar Shiva temple of Belakhandi and offered prayers. After holding discussions with the temple’s sevayats (servitors) and management committee members over the temple’s development, he advised the District Collector to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) for the temple’s development within 15 days.
The 5T Secretary inspected the transformation work of the Madanpur-Rampur Community Health Centre (CHC) and advised for completion of Ama Hospital work within the next six months. He also took stock of the free dispensing of medicine at the Niramaya Centre.
Pandian reviewed the progress made in the construction of the Sandul barrage on Tel river and advised departmental officials for its early completion while reminding them that the target for its completion is March 24.
On completion of this barrage, farmlands of 29 villages in Narla, Karlamunda and Kesinga blocks will get water through underground pipelines.
On this occasion, Pandian visited Narla Stadium and Mission Shakti Cafe and had a discussion with the players and Mission Shakti women.
At Bhawanipatna 5T Secretary visited the Police High School and discussed with the teachers and children about the school’s transformation. This high school was included in the third phase of high school transformation programme under 5T initiative.
Later Pandian visited Asha Sagar and advised officials concerned to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) for its redevelopment.
Later he reviewed the progress in the construction of the bus terminal at Bhawanipatna and advised for completing the work within the scheduled time.
On the occasion of this visit, Pandian visited Kalahandi Medical College and Kalahandi University and discussed various problems and developmental issues with the students.
The 5T Secretary informed that smart classrooms, an e-library and developed laboratory will be developed at Kalahandi University.
At Kalahandi Town Hall 5T Secretary met members of Mission Shakti.
He discussed the development of the famous Lankeswari temple in Junagadh with the temple committee and advised the District Collector to prepare the DPR for its redevelopment soon.
5T Secretary Pandian also reviewed the progress of Biju Patnaik Stadium at Junagadh.
