Rayagada: Six girls sustained injuries due to a lightning strike while they were celberating Raja here on Wednesday. The incident occured at Urlajodi village in Jigidi panchayat of Bisak Katak block.
According to reports, a group of girls were playing among themselves on the second day of Raja at a mango orchard in the village. During late afternoon, lightning took place in the area because of a norwester.
The six girls fell unconscious after the hit by lightning. They were rushed to the local CHC while two among them have been shifted to another hospital in Bisam Katak.
In another case, 28 goats and one calf were killed in the district due to a lightning strike today. The tragedy took place in Guakana village of Kolanara block in Rayagada.
