6-Month-Old Branded With Hot Iron In Odisha's Nabarangpur

Nabarangpur: It seems there is no end to the relentless cases of child branding in Odisha with the latest report coming from the tribal belt of Nabarangpur district. A six-month-old baby boy was allegedly branded with hot iron in a bid to cure him of stomach ailments.

The incident occurred in Khatiguda village under Papadahandi block of the district.

As per sources, a villager named Nakula Bhatarara branded his six-month-old son as the child was suffering from some stomach ailments for the last few days.

The child was branded several times by his parents as a result his condition deteriorated.

The ailing baby was initially rushed to Sibugaon health centre and later shifted to district headquarters hospital where he is being treated now.
