Bhubaneswar: In pursuance of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s policy of zero tolerance towards inefficient and corrupt officials, the Odisha government has awarded compulsory retirement to another six officials who include one Chief Engineer, three Executive Engineers and two Block Education Officers.
As of now 164 officials have been terminated from service or have been awarded compulsory retirement, said an official press release issued today.
Out of the aforementioned six officials, Chief Engineer (Electrical) Sambalpur, Sunil Kumar Panda has a corruption case against him. Panda was in possession of Rs 3.26 crore disproportionate assets. He was also suspended on this account. He was awarded compulsory retirement for corruption.
Executive Engineer, Rural Works (Electrical Division) of Berhampur Jagannath Sethi had a corruption case against him. He was in possession of Rs 7.63 crore disproportionate assets and he was under suspension on this account. He was awarded compulsory retirement for corruption.
Similarly, Executive Engineer (Testing & Calibration) and Deputy Electrical Inspector of Bhubaneswar Deepak Kumar Bhuyan had two corruption cases against him. He was awarded compulsory retirement for corruption.
Executive Engineer (ED & Inspection) and Deputy Electrical Inspector of Bhubaneswar Prasanta Kumar Mishra has a corruption case against him. He was awarded compulsory retirement for corruption.
Block Education Officer of Gunupur in Rayagada district under School & Mass Education Department Antaryami Behera has a corruption case against him. He had taken a bribe of Rs 10,000. He was arrested on March 2 this year and on the next day, he was forwarded to court. He has been awarded compulsory retirement for corruption.
Similarly, Block Education Officer of Nuagada in Gajapati district Braja Kumar Nayak has a corruption case against him. He was caught by Vigilance officials while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000 in his office. He was awarded compulsory retirement for corruption.
Including these six, as of now, 164 officials have been awarded compulsory retirement and their pensions have been stopped.
