Bhubaneswar: Police arrested six professional robbers from near the railway track at Shantipalli basti under Saheednagar police limits in Bhubaneswar on Saturday while they were allegedly planning to commit loot trucks plying on the highways during the night.
The accused persons have been identified as Lingaraj Bhuyan, Bulu Palei, Kartik Mondal, Satyabrat Bhoi, Md Qadir, and Tatwamasi Pradhan.
Police have seized a machete, a toy pistol, three iron rods, etc from their possession. The accused persons have been forwarded to court by the police.
According to reports, while these six professional robbers sitting near the railway track alongside Shantipalli were planning to commit robberies locals informed the police. Saheednagar police raided the place and apprehended them.
During interrogation, they confessed to having been planning to loot trucks on the highway during the night. Subsequently, they were arrested by the police.
The accused persons have several cases against their names. While Lingaraj Bhuyan has eight cases against his name, Bulu Palei has three, Kartik Mondal has six, Satyabrat Bhoi has three, Md Qadir has one and Tatwamasi Pradhan has two.
