Berhampur: Six school students were injured in an explosion while making firecrackers inside a deserted house in Manikpur village under Khallikote police limits in Ganjam district, on Saturday.
According to reports, the injured students were initially taken to a nearby government hospital. Four of them, who were critically injured, were later transferred to MKCG Medical College & Hospital for further treatment.
Local fire service and police personnel, with the help of villagers, rescued the students from the scene. The explosion was so powerful that it blew away the asbestos roof of the house where the firecrackers were being made.
The police are investigating the incident, and further details are awaited. This incident has raised concerns about the safety and awareness of children involved in such dangerous activities, especially during the festive season.
