6-Yr-Old Missing Boy’s Body Fished Out From Village Pond In Nayagarh

Nayagarh: In a tragic incident, the body of a six-year-old boy was recovered from a nearby village pond this morning.

As per reports, the deceased has been identified as the son of Laxman Lenka of Kiajhar village under Khandapada block in the district here. He had gone missing last evening while he was playing outside following which the family members had lodged a missing complaint in the Khandapada Police Station (PS).

Registering a case, the police had at once swung into action, but to no avail. However, the Khandapada Fire Brigade personnel traced his body in a pond near the house this morning. It is suspected that the little boy might have slipped into the water while playing.

Khandapada Fire Station OIC told media, “Our IIC had given a requisition that a boy of 6-7 years old had gone missing at Kiajhar village. When our team searched three wells and the pond in the village here this morning, we recovered the dead body of the child from the pond. In presence of the IIC and villagers, we have handed over the body to the police.”

“We reached here around 7 am this morning and began our search operation. We found the body near the steps of the pond. Now the police seized the body and would send for post mortem and other formalities,” he added.
The local police have now registered a case of unnatural death (UD) and investigating further into the case.
