Bhubaneswar: Sixty prison inmates from various jails in the state are scheduled to appear in the annual Matric Exam – 2023, conducted by the Odisha Board of Secondary Education (BSE) this year.
As per the jail reform programme in Odisha, prisoners can appear for the Matric examination and every year prisoners from different jails across the state appear for the board exams. All the prisoners will sit for the examination at Jharpada Special Jail in Bhubaneswar, said Jharpada Special Jail’s Jailor Santoshini Dash.
All the examinees will be brought to the capital city for the examination amid tight security, she added.
As many as 147 prisoners appeared for the Matric Examination in 2022 under the prison reform programme and 10 of them were successful. In 2021, 63 prisoners appeared for the examination and 13 passed.
The annual Matric Examination-2023 will commence on March 10.
