Bhubaneswar: As many as 7,7001 blood samples have been tested for dengue between 2023, January 1, and September 14, of which 6,068 were positive for the vector-borne disease, Odisha government today informed the Assembly.
Responding to a query by MD Moquim during question hour round, Health Minister Niranjan Pujari said the government has earmarked 40 sentinel sites in the state to check the spread of the vector-borne disease.
The sites are available at all district headquarters hospitals, SCBMCH, MKCG, VIMSAR, IGH Rourkela, RGH Rourkela, SDH Talcher, SDH Gunpur, Paradip CHC, AIIMS-Bhubaneswar, Capital Hospital, RMRC, Patia health center Bhubaneswar, IRC village health Center Bhubaneswar, where dengue examination is conducted through ELISA method.
The Government has roped in 49,000 trained ASHA to spread awareness among people. Similarly, 190 volunteers have been appointed in five Municipal corporations for the purpose, he said.
Special dengue wards have been set up at all district headquarters hospitals, sub-divisional hospitals, CHCs for the patients.
The government has directed all private hospitals to send blood samples to sentinel sites for examinations.
Sufficient blood and platelets have been stored at blood banks for the transfusion if required, the minister said.
The government has also stepped up dengue eradication programmes in the State.
The serotyping is also being conducted at RMRC for the analysis of the vector-borne disease, Pujari added.
The Health department has sent the advisory, SoPs and rules and regulations to all Chief District Medical Officers, Public Health officers, and commissioners of five municipal corporations.
Anti-mosquito oils have been supplied to all districts for the destruction of mosquito breeding to contain the spread of disease.
The health professionals engaged in the treatment of dengue patients have been trained. All medicine specialists, pediatricians, and other health care providers are being trained at the district level for clinical management of dengue.
Mass awareness campaigns through TV, Radio, and newspapers have been intensified, the Health minister informed.
The Minister clarified that the government has no such rule to provide financial assistance to the families of patients who died of Dengue under NVBDCP (National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme.
