61st IPS Meet: Odisha CM Launches ‘Arakshi’ App, Says Govt Committed To Provide Safe Environment To Citizens

**Bhubaneswar: ** Gracing the valedictory session of the three-day-long 61st Senior Police Officers’ Conference here at the Police Bhawan here in the capital city, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik launched ‘Arakshi’ mobile app and interacted with the Superintendents of Police (SP) of the 32 police districts.

In his keynote address, the Chief Minister said, “I wish all of you a very happy new year. I am happy to address the 61st Senior Police Officers’ Conference which is an annual event. I am told a number of emerging and pressing issues related to policing have been discussed elaborately in this conference.”

Lauding the police force, he stated, “I congratulate you all and the members of Odisha Police force for their commendable work in 2018 in maintaining law and order, countering left wing extremism effectively and in preventing and detecting crime. I would also like to congratulate the Commissionerate of Police for smooth conduct of the Men’s World Cup Hockey which has earned international appreciation.”

“My Government is committed to provide safe and secured environment to its citizens,” asserted the Odisha Chief Minister.

He further asserted, “Our special focus is to implement policies for overall development of the State to ensure inclusive growth of the people to provide transparent and pro-people governance. Protection of Rights of women, children, weaker and vulnerable sections of the society has been the top most priority of my Government.”

“I congratulate the noble initiative taken by Odisha Police in conducting the State wide social awareness ‘Paree’ campaign against child sexual abuse with special focus on such violence on minor girls,” he remarked adding, “I’m glad to know that counselling centres to deal with problems of women and children have already been opened in 19 districts. Other districts should open the same.”

The Chief Minister also stated, “My Government is sympathetic and considerate towards the genuine problems of police force and has been constantly working in modernizing the police force, bringing in technology to increase professionalism, augmenting logistics, infrastructure and mobility as well as continuous skill upgradation through training.”

“I understanding that the police work under extreme hardship while discharging their duties. My Government is continuously striving to prove a better working environment to our police force and their welfare. I also acknowledge the supreme sacrifice made by police while tackling the Maoist menace,” he further stated.

“On this occasion, I call upon all of you to provide exemplary leadership to the police force of the State, to be accessible to the people and responsive to their problems and strive to live up to their expectations,” exhorted the Odisha Chief Minister.
