Bhubaneswar: A total of 640 bottles of Eskuf cough syrup were seized by police during checking at Gandhi Chhak near Tel river bridge in Manamunda of Boudh district on Sunday.
Reportedly, Manamunda Police team was performing checking duty when they found one white colour Sweif DZire car coming from Boudh side on NH-57 towards Sonepur. Seeing the police party from a distance, the driver of the car suddenly turned back and tried to flee. But the police party caught him.
On being searched, 640 bottles of Eskuf cough syrup of 100 ml each contained in four cartoons were found from the back side dicky of the car. Four strips of Clonafid 0.5 Mg Tablet were also found in the car.
As the accused was transporting a huge amount of cough syrup illegally without any valid papers for the purpose of selling it to drug addicts after mixing Clonafid 0.5Mg Tablet, the accused was arrested with the car and 640 bottles of cough syrup.
