Bhubaneswar: The State Government today approved a proposal for upgrading and strengthening of 6794 government-run primary schools/ sections as model schools in the state under the Godavarish Mishra Adarsha Prathamik Vidyalaya (GMAPV) Scheme.
The Godabarish Mishra Adarsha Prathamik Vidyalaya (GMAPV) initiative seeks to establish a model elementary school in every Gram Panchayat, aligning with the focus of the RTE Act, 2009 on inclusivity and quality education for marginalized communities.
By enhancing infrastructure, adopting modern pedagogical methods, and encouraging community participation, GMAPV promotes equitable education and holistic student development, reinforcing the mission of the NEP 2020 and empowering children socially and academically.
The financial implication on account of such construction of 6794 model primary schools will be Rs 11,939.41 Cr over 05 (Five) years i.e. from 2024-25 to 2028-29.
The rough cost estimate per school ranges from Rs 1.00 Cr to Rs 4.00 Cr depending on the number of enrolment in the school. However, actual expenditure will be based on the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for each school.
The operationalization of 6,794 model primary schools will enhance educational access, deliver quality education, and foster the holistic development of students. It will also promote inclusivity and establish benchmark institutions aligned with the objectives of the RTE Act, 2009, NEP-2020 and NIPUN Odisha to bolster foundational literacy and numeracy (FLN) skills amongst students.
