Bhubaneswar: As many as 719 cases have been registered against illegal construction of buildings in Bhubaneswar and other cities of Odisha, though no official survey of illegally constructed apartments in the State has been conducted.
This was revealed by Minister of Housing & Urban Development (H&UD) Krushna Chandra Mahapatra in the Odisha Assembly on Tuesday in a written reply to a question by Congress MLA from Jeypore Tara Prasad Bahinipati.
The Minister added that out of these 689 cases have been registered by Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) and Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC).
He said that under sections 90, 91, and 92 of the Odisha Development Authority Act of 1982, there are provisions for taking legal action against individuals or organisations for undertaking illegal construction of buildings.
