Bhubaneswar: Around 7.68 lakh names have been removed from Odisha’s electoral roll between June 2025 and March 22, 2026, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi informed the state Assembly on Monday.
In a written reply to a query by BJD legislator Ranendra Pratap Swain, the chief minister said that deletions were carried out for multiple reasons, including death, migration, and duplication.
According to the data shared, as many as 2,03,396 names were struck off following the death of voters. A larger segment—4,08,132 entries—was removed due to transfer of voters to other locations, while 1,54,318 names were deleted after being found registered at more than one place.
Additionally, 2,646 names were removed due to other unspecified reasons, Majhi said.
The chief minister also noted that 5,67,034 individuals submitted applications for inclusion in the electoral roll during the same period, indicating ongoing revision and updating of voter records in the state.
