Bhubaneswar: Jajpur police have arrested seven persons in connection with a series of robberies that took place in various residential areas of the town.
The arrests follow a spate of house robberies reported in the Mangalpur region of the district over the past four months.
According to reports, the most recent robbery occurred on the night of February 2 in Botalatanga village, located within Chasakhanda Panchayat under Mangalpur police station. Armed with a firearm, a robber forced his way into the home of Mandodari Das, looting valuable gold and silver ornaments along with mobile phones.
Following the incident, Mandodari Das filed an official complaint at the Mangalpur police station. After registering the case, the Mangalpur police formed two specialized teams to investigate. These teams carried out extensive raids and successfully apprehended seven suspects linked to the crimes.
During the operation, police seized a variety of stolen goods, including nine mobile phones, gold and silver ornaments, a Scorpio vehicle, two motorcycles, household fans, and brass items. A goldsmith suspected of trafficking the stolen jewelry was also arrested.
Prashant Kumar Majhi, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Jajpur, confirmed the arrests and commended the success of the operation.
The police are continuing their investigation into the broader network behind the robberies and are implementing additional measures to ensure community safety.
