Bhubaneswar: Commissionerate Police on Friday apprehended seven hooligans who had allegedly harassed an Army officer and his fiancée on September 14 night while they were travelling by car from Patia.
Sources said that the accused are being interrogated by the police at the Chandaka police station.
The accused have been taken into custody after examination of CCTV footage by the police.
DGP YB Khurania on Thursday had directed the police to register a case against the hooligans who had allegedly assaulted the Army officer and his fiancée on the night of September 14.
Earlier in the day, the Crime Branch registered a criminal case against the five policemen, including the Inspector-In-Charge (IIC) of Bharatpur police station, for allegedly harassing and misbehaving with the Army officer and his fiancée.
Based on a written complaint filed by the Army officer, the Crime Branch registered a criminal case against the accused cops of Bharatpur police station who had allegedly harassed and misbehaved with the former and his fiancée while they had come to register a complaint against the hooligans who had harassed them while they were travelling by car from Patia.
