G Udayagiri: Panic gripped employees at the Excise Office near Post Office Square in Ghumusar Udayagiri town, Kandhamal district, after a 7-foot python was spotted on the premises today.
The staff immediately informed Snake Helpline member Prabin Nayak, popularly known as Kalia, who rushed to the spot and safely rescued the reptile. Exercising utmost care, he caught the python without harming it and later released it into the Kalingaghati forest.
Witnesses said the sight of the massive snake caused alarm, but Prabin’s swift response and expertise ensured a safe rescue. His selfless act, carried out without seeking any remuneration, has earned him appreciation from locals and officials alike.
