Bhubaneswar: The regional center of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday issued a yellow warning for heavy rain in seven districts of Odisha.
The districts which are likely to experience heavy rainfall include Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Gajapati, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, and Ganjam.
Similarly, thunderstorms with lightning are very likely to occur at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri districts of the state on Tuesday.
At the same time, the weather office has predicted that heat wave conditions are very likely at a few places in Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Sonepur, and Bolangir districts today.
Earlier, the IMD said that people in Odisha are likely to get some relief from the heat wave as the southwest monsoon is expected to hit the state by June 21, 2023.
It added that there has been a noticeable drop in the daytime temperatures in Odisha. The capital city of Bhubaneswar received heavy rain with thunderstorms and lightning on Monday midnight brining some relief from the sweltering heat.
