Bhubaneswar: Here is some good news for Odisha. Seven products and Lanjia paintings from the state have received the Geographical Indication (GI) tag, informed the Odisha Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Department on its X handle on Wednesday.
The products that received GI tags include Odisha Khajuri Guda (date palm jaggery), Dhenkanal Magji, Mayurbhanj Kai chutney, Nayagarh Kanteimundi Baigan and Dongaria Kondh embroidered shawl. In addition, Kendrapara Rasabali Koraput Kalajeera rice, and Paintings of Lanjia Saura
The GI tag was also given to Kendrapara Rasabali (a dessert), Koraput Kalajeera rice, and paintings of Lanjia Saura also received the GI tags.
The Nilamadhab Krushi Sagathan had applied for the GI registration for Kanteimundi brinjal on February 8, 2021. The OUAT, Bhubaneswar, and Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Nayagarh facilitated the GI tag certificate for the Kanteimundi brinjal.
