Bhubaneswar: A seven-year-old boy drowned while bathing in a pond in Mahulapali village under Buguda tehsil of Ganjam district on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Ayush Nayak, a resident of Singipur village.
According to reports, Ayush had visited his paternal aunt’s house for a feast. Later, he went to the pond to bathe, but his leg slipped, and he drowned.
Locals rushed him to Dharakote Community Health Centre (CHC), where the doctors declared him dead on arrival.
The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the village.
