**Balasore:** Yet another heinous crime came into light in Soro of the district here when a 7-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a man when she came to attend a wedding here on Friday night.
The accused has been identified as Mahendra Mallick.
The little girl had come to attend a wedding when the accused took her to the secluded area near a lift irrigation point and allegedly raped her in Purushottampur village under Anantpur panchayat in Soro. The girl returned to her mother and told her about the incident. The victim’s mother then lodged a complaint at the local police station.
Soro IIC Dilip Kumar Sahoo informed, “We have sent the victim and the accused for medical examination after which we will be forwarding the accused to the court”.
The police are further investigating into the matter.
