Bhubaneswar: Puri Superintendent of Police (SP) Vinit Agrawal on Sunday announced that a total of 70 police platoons will be deployed to ensure smooth security arrangements during the upcoming Snana Purnima festival scheduled for June 11 in Puri.
With lakhs of devotees expected to visit the Jagannath Temple to receive the Lord’s blessings, the police have made extensive preparations focusing on crowd management, traffic control, and overall safety both inside and outside the temple premises.
“Among the deployed forces, 34 platoons will be stationed inside the temple to maintain order during darshan, while 24 platoons will monitor the areas surrounding the temple. Additionally, 8 platoons will be assigned to regulate traffic. The deployment will include 4 senior police officers of SP rank, along with 450 other officers,” the SP said while speaking to reporters.
He further stated that, to facilitate devotees, certain routes will be designated as no-vehicle zones for four-wheelers from Medical Chhak to the Srimandir, starting the evening of June 10.
“Two-wheelers will be permitted to park at the Municipality Market Complex. Special arrangements will also be made along the beach, including the deployment of lifeguards to prevent any drowning incidents,” he added.
The SP urged the public to strictly adhere to the advisories issued by the Puri Police and the local administration during the festival period.
“Our top priority is to ensure the safety and security of all devotees, prevent any untoward incidents, and enable a peaceful darshan,” he said.
