Balangir: Around 70 students of a school in Tentulikhunti village under Muribahal block of Balangir district fell ill on Saturday after consuming midday meal that was later found to contain a lizard.

According to reports, the students began experiencing discomfort and nausea shortly after eating the meal. At the time, neither they nor the staff suspected any contamination. It was only later that a school staff member noticed the presence of the reptile in the food.

Upon receiving information about the incident, school authorities immediately arranged for the affected students to be taken to the local hospital. Medical officials confirmed that all students are in stable condition and are being kept under observation.

In response, school authorities have promised to strengthen food safety checks and implement stricter hygiene protocols to prevent any recurrence of such incidents.
