Bhubaneswar: Odisha has procured a total of 72.09 lakh metric tonnes (MT) of paddy during the current Kharif season of KMS 2025-26, as of March 16, 2026, Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra informed the state assembly on Wednesday.
Replying to a question by Bolangir MLA Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo, the minister provided a district-wise breakdown of paddy procurement. Bargarh topped the list with 7.69 lakh MT, followed by Kalahandi – 6.43 lakh MT, Ganjam – 5.56 lakh MT, Bolangir – 4.49 lakh MT, Subarnapur – 3.79 lakh MT, and Sundargarh – 2.68 lakh MT, with the remaining quantity contributed by other districts.
Minister Patra said that ration distribution is being carried out regularly and systematically under the provisions of the Odisha Public Distribution System (Control) Order, 2016.
Following e-KYC verification, 3,23,145 new applications covering 6,39,827 family members have been added under the Food Security Scheme, he added.
The minister further stated that district administrations and state officials are actively monitoring the distribution system to prevent irregularities in ration supply. Special attention is being given to weight and measurement fraud, ensuring consumer protection across the state.
