Mayurbhanj: In a horrific incident, a woman was killed by a man under suspicion of practising black magic in Nischintapur village, which falls under the jurisdiction of Badasahi village in Mayurbhanj district, on Thursday.
The deceased woman, identified as Gouri Behera (72), was axed to death by her neighbour Babuli Mahakud (35), who was suspicious about her practising black magic.
According to sources, this morning, when Gouri was returning home, Babuli attacked her with an axe, instantly killing her by separating her head from her torso in broad daylight.
The villagers held Babuli and informed about the incident to the police officials.
A Police team led by Inspector In-Charge (IIC) Umashankar Nayak immediately arrived on the spot and arrested Babuli, along with the weapon used for the crime.
Inspector Nayak said, “Further investigation into the matter, will be done after the arrival of the scientific team.”
The cold-blooded murder of Gouri has left the villagers terrified.
