73rd Independence Day Celebrated Across Odisha

Dhenkanal/Malkangiri/Angul/Cuttack: While Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced ‘Mo Sarkar’ initiative on the occasion of 73rd Independence Day, the spirit of people-centric governance was seen across the State as India’s freedom was celebrated in all districts.

In Cuttack, State Excise Minister Niranjan Pujari hoisted the flag while Minister of Forest & Environment Bikram Keshari Arukha unfurled the Tricolor in Angul. In Dhenkanal, Agriculture Minister Arun Sahoo did the honors and Water Resources Minister Raghunandan Das took charge in Malkangiri.

Students, scouts and guides, NCC cadets, police force, fire personnel and railway officials took part in colorful parades and made the day a memorable one. Citizens too woke up early in the morning and thronged the nearby grounds to witness patriotism in full force. Schools, offices and shops too celebrated Republic Day with elaborate arrangements. It is notable to mention here that this day honours the date on which the India became free from British Rule in 1947.
