**Bhubaneswar: ** While 7659 children have been rescued by the Odisha Government till date, 7593 have been restored with their respective families. Out of the total 7659 children, 510 have been rescued from other states and 7149 within the state.
This was revealed on the floor of the House by Odisha Women & Child Development (W&CD) and Mission Shakti Minister Prafulla Samal in a written reply to the question put by Congress MLA Jacob Pradhan on April 13, 2018 during the ongoing Budget Session of Assembly.
The Minister apprised the House that those children have been rescued by the District Child Protection Units (DCPUs) and its associate Childlines, Police and the organizations.
“Out of the rescued children, 7593 children have been restored with their families, 53 children have been placed in Child Care Institutions (CCIs) and 13 children have run away during the transit period,” the Odisha Minister informed the Assembly.
He also apprised the House, “Rs 41,52,011 has been utilized in total. Out of which, Rs 4,70,187, Rs 10,96,814, Rs 12,23,979 and Rs 13,61,031 relate to Operation Muskan-I, Operation Smile-II, Operation Muskan-II and Muskan-III respectively for rescue of children from other states from repatriation head of DCPU.”
“Justice has been given to the rescued children by rehabilitating them with their families, providing educational/vocational training, sponsorship and family attached with poverty alleviation schemes,” the Odisha W&CD Minister tabled his written reply in the Assembly during Question Hour.
