Bhubaneswar: Police on Friday arrested a total of 77 persons from both sides in connection with the recent violent group clash between people of two localities of Padmakesharipur village of Injana gram panchayat under Mancheswar police limits, informed Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh.
The accused persons are being forwarded to court today, Singh added.
He said that normalcy has returned to the village and added that efforts are underway to identify other persons involved in the disturbance and stringent action will be taken against them by the police.
The DCP told that around 2.00 AM on the intervening night of October 26 and 27 stone pelting and hurling of bottles was reported between people of two sahis of Padmakesharipur. On being informed Mancheswar police immediately reached the spot and brought the situation under control, he added.
The DCP further informed that a few people had sustained injuries in the incident and they were rushed to the hospital.
Three cases have been registered at Mancheswar police station in connection with the incident, he added.
