Cuttack: The 77th State Police Volleyball and Basketball Championship-2025 concluded with great fanfare at the OSAP 6th Battalion premises in Cuttack on Monday. The closing ceremony was graced by Vinaytosh Mishra, Director General of Police (Crime Branch), who attended as the chief guest.
Mishra received a ceremonial salute during an impressive parade and presented awards to outstanding athletes across various categories. In his address, he lauded the commitment and discipline of Odisha Police athletes and encouraged them to continue striving for excellence. He expressed pride in the force’s consistent success, particularly at international platforms like the World Police and Fire Games, where Odisha athletes have been a source of inspiration.
This year’s championship witnessed participation from 25 volleyball teams and 4 basketball teams, representing different police districts, battalions, and units across the state. A total of 429 athletes competed in the event, showcasing high levels of fitness, teamwork, and sporting spirit.

Bronze Medal: Mayurbhanj Team

The closing ceremony was attended by several senior police officials, including Additional DGP (Railways and Coastal Security) Arun Bothra, IGP Gajbhiye Satish Kumar, DIGP (Provisioning) Charan Singh Meena, and DIGP (Crime Branch) Batula Gangadhar. Public representatives and media personnel were also present at the event.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Commandant Suryanarayan Mallick of OSAP 6th Battalion. The smooth organization and conduct of the championship were supported by Assistant Commandant Mandhata Sai and State Police Headquarters Sports Officer Neel Madhav Swain.
