Bhubaneswar: A special DGP Award ceremony was held today at the Police Bhawan in Bhubaneswar, where Director General of Police (DGP) Yogesh Bahadur Khurania awarded 78 police officers and employees with medals in recognition of their distinguished service and outstanding achievements.
The event was organised as part of the Odisha Police Foundation Day celebrations. Senior officers and personnel from various units were honoured for their exemplary performance in maintaining law and order, anti-Naxal operations, crime prevention, and other critical duties.
DGP Khurania personally presented the medals to the awardees. Prominent recipients included Additional Director General of Police (Anti-Naxal Operations) Sanjeeb Panda, Additional Director General of Police (Women and Child Crime Prevention Branch) S. Saini, Inspector General of Police (Operations) Dr. Deepak Kumar, Inspector General of Police (Crime Branch) Dr. Sarthak Sarangi, DIGP (Independent Intelligence Branch) Akhileshwar Singh, DCP (Bhubaneswar) Jagmohan Meena, DCP (Cuttack) Khilari Rishikesh Dyandeo, SP (Special Branch) Sunil Kumar Nanda, and SP (Police Training Institute, Bairi) Ashok Kumar Dehuri.
Along with them, 29 officers from the Special Operations Group (SOG), 7 from the Special Branch, 10 from the SIW, and personnel from various other departments received medals for their meritorious contributions.In a special gesture, DGP Khurania also presented a medal to Bimal Kumar Kanar, Inspector of Badagada Police Station in Ganjam District. The station was recently recognised as the Best Police Station in Odisha for 2025 by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA),
The ceremony was attended by many senior police officers, personnel, and representatives from the media. Speaking on the occasion, DGP Khurania appreciated the dedication and hard work of the force and said such recognitions motivate personnel to continue serving the people of Odisha with greater commitment and professionalism.
