Balasore: In a tragic incident, an eight-year-old boy was killed after being run over by a tractor at a brick kiln in Sikharpur under Jaleswar police limits of Balasore district today.
The deceased has been identified as Shivam. His parents Paramjit and Sushma Devi who hail from neighbouring state of Jharkhand work as labourers at the Gita brick kiln.
“My son Shivam was playing when he was run over by a tractor. I had fed him a little while ago and gone to work. We are from Jharkhand. Me and my husband make bricks,” said a wailing Sushma Devi, the mother of the deceased boy.
Tension prevailed in the area following the mishap.
Jaleswar police on reaching the spot have seized the body and sent it for post-mortem. Police have also seized the tractor and are investigating the matter.
