Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, an eight-year-old boy was killed and two others were critically injured in a head-on collision between a car and a motorcycle on Saturday near Turanipani village under Adaba police limits in Gajapati district.

The parents of the deceased child who were critically injured in the accident have been admitted to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Mohana.

The injured have been identified as ASHA worker of Turanipani village Santoshini Madala and her husband Santosh Madala.

According to reports, the accident occurred while Santosh Madala along with his wife Santoshini and their two sons were going to Mohana on a motorcycle. They were on their way to drop Santoshini at the CDPO office in Mohana where she was to attend a meeting.

As ill luck would have it their bike had a head-on collision with a car in which the couple’s elder son was killed. Locals rushed all four to the CHC at Mohana. However, doctors at the CHC declared the 8-year-old son of the couple dead.

The driver of the accident-causing car has fled the spot deserting the vehicle.
