Bhubaneswar: Offences against women and children remains on the highest priority of Odisha police. In this context, the Odisha police launched a special drive coordinated by Crime Branch, to trace and rescue missing children, DGP Abhay said today.
Addressing a presser, Abhay said, a total of 894 children were rescued during this drive which was carried out between 18 to 25 January. The missing children have been rehabilitated at shelter homes. Most of them belong to Kendrapada, Jajpur, Bhadrak and Balasore.
“Odisha Government and Odisha Police are committed to stopping crime against women and children. Special emphasis is being laid on this mission by the State Police. We have launched a Special Wing – Offences against women and children under Crime Branch which will be operationalised very soon,” Abhay added.
As many as 834 missing cases were reported in various police stations pertaining to these 894 children who have been rescued.
