Bhubaneswar: Around 9.25% of votes have been cast till 9.00 at the four Lok Sabha and 28 Assembly constituencies in Odisha where the electorate is exercising their franchise in Phase I of elections in the state on Monday. The voting could have been marginally higher but for EVM glitches at some booths, Chief Election Officer (CEO) Nikunja Bihari Dhal said.
According to reports, only 7.80% of votes were cast in the Berhampur Lok Sabha seat till 9.00 am, while the voting was 9.33% in the Kalahandi Lok Sabha seat, 10.59% in the Koraput Lok Sabha seat and 9.28% in the Nabarangpur Lok Sabha seat.
Voting is underway in the Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, and Nuapada districts of south Odisha. A total of 37 candidates are in the fray for Koraput, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, and Berhampur Lok Sabha seats.
A total of 240 candidates are contesting in the 28 Assembly seats under these four Lok Sabha constituencies.
