Bhubaneswar: In a major crackdown, the Saheed Nagar police on Wednesday arrested nine persons posing as RTO officials near the Regional Transport Office (RTO), Bhubaneswar-1. The operation was conducted under the supervision of Bhubaneswar DCP Jagmohan Meena.
During the operation, the police seized nine laptops and two printers from the accused. A case has been registered at the Saheed Nagar police station under Case No. 551 dated 19.11.2025, under relevant BNS sections. All the accused will be produced in court today.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP Zone-V) Biswa Ranjan Senapati said the group misled citizens by claiming to be RTO staff, offering services such as learner’s license (LL) tests, driving license (DL) tests, vehicle registration, and insurance processing.
“They collected large sums of money, deceiving both citizens and the government, by pretending to be RTO officials,” Senapati said.
The ACP added that the group used laptops and printers to appear legitimate and conducted operations on a significant scale. “The police acted suo motu to stop this fraudulent activity,” he said.
Investigations are ongoing to determine if any official RTO staff were involved. “If any collusion is found, strict action will be taken,” Senapati confirmed.
