Bhubaneswar: A tragic incident occurred in Mendkuli village of Dalpati Guda panchayat in Malkangiri district, where a 9-year-old boy was killed and two others were injured due to a lightning strike. The deceased has been identified as Rahul Madhi, son of Rama Madhi.

According to reports, the incident took place during a thunderstorm in the afternoon when three children from the village had gone to a nearby forest to pick mangoes. A sudden lightning strike hit the tree under which they were standing, resulting in Rahul’s instant death and injuring two other children.

The local residents rushed the children to the Upakhand Health Center in Maithili, where the doctor declared Rahul dead and the other two children out of danger. The news of the boy’s death has created a somber atmosphere in the village.

The parents of the deceased are reportedly in critical condition. Local residents have demanded government assistance to support the family in this difficult time.
