Bhubaneswar: As many as 94.48 lakh electors in the six parliamentary constituencies of Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Puri and Bhubaneswar and the 42 assembly segments will be exercising their franchise on May 25.
Out of the 94.48 lakh electors, 48.30 lakh are male, 46.18 are female and 1,291 are from the third gender, informed Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Nikunja Bihari Dhal addressing a presser here today.
Dhal said that there are 10,551 polling stations out of which 2000 are model polling stations, 1500 are all women personnel polling stations and 30 are all Persons with Disability (PwD) personnel polling stations.
The CEO further informed that as many as 121 companies of CAPF (Central Armed Police Forces) will be deployed in this phase of the polls in the State.
“We have taken all steps to ensure that polls are conducted peacefully.
CAPF will be deployed in more than 2000 critical polling stations. The percentage of critical polling stations is about 20 per cent. As many as 121 companies of CAPF will be deployed,” the CEO stated.
Over 70,000 polling staff will be deployed on Saturday.
Dhal urged the voters in the urban areas like Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Sambalpur and Puri to exercise their franchise in large numbers.
