96.19% Students Pass Odisha Matric Exam 2023; Girls Outshine Boys

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Board of Secondary Education (BSE) on Thursday announced the much-awaited results of the Matriculation or annual high school certificate (HSC) examination. The overall pass percentage stands at 96.19%.

The results were formally announced by the Mass Education Minister Pramila Mallik at the Board’s Cuttack office at 10 am.

This year the pass rate is 94.40 while the pass rate for girls is 97.05 and the pass rate for boys is 95.75. The performance of students in Cuttack and Jagatsinghpur districts was the best, each scoring 97.99% pass percentage, while Malkangari district was at the bottom with 92.68%.

Examinees can check their results by visiting the Board’s official website, www.bseodisha.ac.in from 12.00 noon onwards. They can also log in to the orissaresults.nic.in to check their results using their roll number and date of birth. Students can also download their scoreboards from the website.

In addition, students can access their results through SMS. To know your results through SMS, they must type OR10<space>Roll Number and send the SMS to 5676750.

Moreover, the students can register their grievances with the controller of the exam within one month of the publication of the results if they find any issue with their results.

The Board has also set up a control room for the students that will be made operational for seven days. The control room number is 0671-2415460.

As many as 5.32 lakh students appeared in the annual High School Certificate (HSC) Summative Assessment-II examination 2023 conducted in 3,218 examination centers across the state from March 10 to 20.

This year the absenteeism among students was about 11,302 compared to 45,000 in the previous year. The Board will hold counseling sessions for such students as well as their parents from next week and offer them options such as appearing in the Open School examination so that they don’t lose an academic year.

Of the total students who appeared for the exam this year, 4,158 students passed in A1 grade, 29,855 in A2 grade, 77,762 in B1, and 119,120 in B2.

A total of 3,627 candidates filled out forms for the intermediate examination. Out of them, 479 candidates were absent, while 3,117 passed in A1 grade, 14 in A2, 589 in B1, and 834 candidates passed in B2 with a pass rate of .85.94%.

On this occasion, Minister Mallik said that a supplementary examination had been arranged this year. In the coming days, the government will take a decision on whether the exam will be conducted in Summative 1 and Subdivide 2 methods as before. The minister revealed that the results have improved this year.

“There is no error in assessment,” Mass Education Secretary Ashwathi S confirmed. Board President Ramasish Hazra, Vice President Dr Nihar Ranjan Mohanty, Editor Sumita Sarkar, Controller of Examinations Sushmita Sahu, and Niranjan Behera were among others present in this press conference.
